Stylin' Kogal!
Kogal, Kogal, Kogal.....
Other than Tsuyome, Ganguro, and Yamamba this is the most known substyle of gyaru. Even more so than the others I think.
I find that this is the gateway style into gyaru.
Kogal is the origin of gyaru. Gyaru started with young school girls unsatisfied with their school life; overbearing rules and regulation smothering them! They rebelled with their scrunched socks and shortened skirts in school, and during afterschool hours they were out constructing and evolving the gyaru styles we know today.
The reason I call this a gateway style however, is because of its simplicity. Young babygals naturally gravitate to this style due to its simple construction and minimal makeup. It is more societally acceptable to wear in public since its tame, and this is comforting for the young people who are new to this style as they can slowly ween there way into the fashion style and not be questioned by friends and family.
Kogal, however, is not always that simple as you still have to style yourself and do your make! Now you can go the simple route with this and do a cute little look like these:
Other kogals liked to take a more in depth looks(Any egg models makeup ever haha) for their makeup. I recommend in depth looks because it will make you feel more gyaru, but confidence is key!
Besides your make, You must worry about style!
Pleated skirts, button shirts, cardigan of your choosing, and LEGWARMERS~
These are the staples of Gyaru fashion! If you have nothing else you should have these things!
For your Skirt you can really find them anywhere but I recommend stores like Forever 21, H&M, Amazon, and even Walmart!
The same with the button shirt, but for good ones i'd reccomend going to stores like Dillards and Macys to try and find good ones that aren't too oversized. Going to a Uniform store is even better if you have the money.
Cardigans and Legwarmers are more difficult as it is much harder to find these in your everyday stores.
For your legwarmers, I wholeheartedly recommend websites that sell ballet legwarmers, as they are well mead and long as some are made to be worn on the whole leg rather than be scrunched. They also have shorter ones for you gals that like those loose boneless ones haha(I see you gyaru. You and your sensory issues. I understand.....but they are loose and boneless. That doesn't make you any less of a gyaru though)
For Cardigans....Honestly, you probably will have to look hard for a good one that actually fits the style. My only recommendation is Amazon
But at the end of the day, no matter what others think about this style. It is the beginning of gyaru itself. Kogal is mother! so we must not disrespect the style. Wear it with care and pride and stay wild and sexy!
