Stylin' Kogal!
Kogal, Kogal, Kogal..... Other than Tsuyome, Ganguro, and Yamamba this is the most known substyle of gyaru. Even more so than the others I think. I find that this is the gateway style into gyaru. Kogal is the origin of gyaru. Gyaru started with young school girls unsatisfied with their school life; overbearing rules and regulation smothering them! They rebelled with their scrunched socks and shortened skirts in school, and during afterschool hours they were out constructing and evolving the gyaru styles we know today. The reason I call this a gateway style however, is because of its simplicity. Young babygals naturally gravitate to this style due to its simple construction and minimal makeup. It is more societally acceptable to wear in public since its tame, and this is comforting for the young people who are new to this style as they can slowly ween there way into the fashion style and not be questioned by friends and family.
